JOB OPPORTUNITIES AT THE HOMESTEAD KITCHEN
Experienced Sous Chef
The Homestead Kitchen is a small, family-run restaurant in the heart of Goathland, proudly holding 3 AA Rosettes and a Michelin Green Star. Our cooking is rooted in sustainability, seasonality, and the flavours of our land, supported by our own kitchen garden and an upcoming market garden expansion in 2026.
We are looking for an Experienced Sous Chef to join our close-knit team and help lead our award-winning kitchen.
About the Role
- Assist with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Support with food ordering and stock management
- Take an active role in menu development aligned with our farm-to-table ethos
- Help train, guide and manage junior kitchen staff
- Contribute to maintaining the high standards required for our accolades
- Work Wednesday to Sunday in accordance with restaurant opening hours

Pot Washer (Saturdays + Ad Hoc Shifts)
Join our friendly, family-run team at The Homestead Kitchen, a multi-award-winning restaurant known for sustainable farmhouse cooking and exceptional standards.
We are looking for a Pot Washer to work Saturdays, with the opportunity for additional ad hoc shifts.
About the Role
- Washing pots, pans, and kitchen equipment
- Assisting kitchen staff with general cleaning tasks
- Helping maintain a smooth service in a fast-paced environment
- Working as part of a supportive and welcoming team
Details
- Minimum age: 16
- Pay: Living Wage Foundation rate for over 18s, plus a share of tips
- Hours: Primarily Saturdays, with extra shifts available

Head Grower – The Homestead Kitchen
Full-Time Position — Goathland
As we expand our growing operations with a brand-new market garden in 2026, The Homestead Kitchen is recruiting a full-time Head Grower to lead our organic vegetable production for the restaurant.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a thriving farm-to-table ecosystem for a 3 AA Rosette, Michelin Green Star restaurant.
About the Role
- Develop and establish a new off-site market garden
- Maintain and enhance the existing kitchen garden
- Grow a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, and fruit using organic and no-dig methods
- Plan crop rotations, quantities, and timings in collaboration with the kitchen team and head gardener
- Manage sowing, propagation, harvesting, and delivering produce to the kitchen
- Uphold high standards of maintenance across all garden areas
- Assist with occasional events and guided tours
- Work independently with strong self-motivation, while contributing positively to our wider team
About You
- Proven experience with large-scale organic growing
- Skilled in seed-to-harvest plant cultivation
- Knowledge of no-dig techniques
- Ornamental gardening experience desirable
- Flexible and comfortable with seasonal variation in workload
- Organised, reliable, and passionate about sustainable growing
