Earlier this month we hosted our first social walk with lunch, and even though the weather was pretty wild and blustery we had such a wonderful day. I enjoyed chatting to everyone so much and getting to know a little bit about them, and one of our attendees was the lovely Sophie from West Plum Studio. As we ambled along, talking about the trials and joys of running your own business, and juggling young families, we decided to run an event together here at the Homestead. On Wednesday 8th March we will be hosting a Learn to Weave workshop, followed by lunch.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Wednesday 8th March 2023 – 10am
Sophie will be leading a three hour workshop taking participants step-by-step through the process of making their own woven wall hanging. Participants will be taught how to set up their loom, three weaving techniques and how to finish their weaving ready for hanging. All equipment and materials are provided. Available in two colour palettes (you will need to let us know which colour you wish to choose when making your booking)
Sophie uses 100% British wool and yarn and aims to source it as locally as possible. The weaving equipment used in the workshops is her own design which has been made in Harrogate by a fellow small business. They are made with FSC Birch plywood.
FOOD & DRINK
On arrival we will be serving a warm drink of tea or coffee, and the bar will also be open should you wish to buy any other drinks during the workshop. Once we have finished our masterpieces, we will clear away and share a 2 course lunch, which also includes a glass of house wine or a soft drink.
Main Course
North Sea cod, spinach and leek gratin, mornay sauce OR Root vegetable and horseradish pie, morel mushrooms (V)
Pudding
Set vanilla custard, Yorkshire rhubarb, Goathland honey madeleine.

Hello Cecily
Stewart phoned last week and booked me on your course. Please could I do the pink/purple colour way and cod for lunch?
So looking forward to it!
