Have you ever wished you could grow more of your own cut flowers?
The recent rise of UK grown cut flowers has become popular due to concerns regarding the sustainability of imported flowers. Flower farming is now a rapidly growing area as more people try to source their floral arrangements locally and growing flowers for cutting is now an increasing fashionable gardening trend.
Whether you wish to develop a specific cut flower garden, or else want to grow more plants suitable for cutting within your garden borders, this is the workshop for you.
From choosing suitable flowers, whether annuals, perennials, bulbs or shrubs, Jan will take you through the different options and discuss the pros and cons of each. There are a wide range of glorious blooms you can grow to suit your own garden conditions and we will investigate how best to grow your favourites to ensure a variety of colourful bouquets and posies throughout the seasons.
We will cover sowing annuals, sourcing bulbs and planting perennials, as well as planning your cut flower journey through the months.
This is mainly a theoretical workshop although we will spend some time outside looking at seed sowing and planting out. You will leave with a list of suitable species for all garden situations and a timeline for planning the development of your own cut flower garden and a list of UK nurseries who supply the range of materials you will require.
