Homestead Christmas Fair – 22nd November

THE DETAILS

Friday 22nd November 10am – 2pm

VENUE: Homestead Kitchen, Goathland, YO22 5AN

This will be our third Christmas shopping event at the restaurant. I will never forget the first year, after all the planning, and a building full of beautiful stalls, I was waiting anxiously to see if anyone would actually come. At 10am on the dot, the door opened and a steady flow of friendly faces arrived and day flew by in a blur of mulled wine, mince pies and beautiful people. This year we will have 9 stalls, and these will be in the garden room and also upstairs in our new dining room. We will have some shared tables in the bar available for those wishing to sit down for a light lunch or hot drink. Please be aware, we cannot take reservations so it will just be a case of grabbing a seat when one is available and ordering cafe style.

THE STALLHOLDERS

Jan Hoyland – Artemisia Gardens

Jan has been part of the wider Homestead family now for I think almost 2 years. She has been integral in taking our kitchen garden forward, by listening to what our hopes are, and using her many years of expertise, has designed and implemented the design. She will be with us for the fair, selling signed copies of her book “The Alchemy of Gardening” along with wildflower seed bombs and some seed selection boxes, these being gift packaged boxes of six different types of seed. There are three to choose from:

Flowers for cutting, Pollinator Paradise and Glorious Greens, easy leafy vegetables.

Kath Cox Pots

You may not instantly know the name, but you’ll recognise her pots! Kath has been making beautiful crockery for us since the very early days of the Homestead, and we are slowly but surely growing our collection. Some may say it’s an addiction. Based in York, she makes amazing plates, bowls, pots and platters. Come and have a rummage through the delights, perfect gifts for others, or yourself! As an aside note, if you are a local maker and need somewhere to fire your ceramics, Kath offers kiln hire, just get in touch via her website.

Aberdevine Lingerie

Aberdevine, founded by Marta Bujwicka-Colman in North Yorkshire, blends luxury with sustainability in revolutionary lingerie design. The initial sketches, photoshoots, and videos for Aberdevine were all captured on the North Yorkshire Moors, while the lingerie is meticulously manufactured in Marta’s hometown in Poland. There, a small team of highly skilled seamstresses specialising in the traditional craft of lingerie making brings each design to life. Using eco-friendly materials like regenerated Italian lace, recycled tulle, and plant-based dyes, Aberdevine creates beautifully crafted, high-quality, timeless bras that are kind to the planet. A collection that offers adjustable sizing and styling options to accommodate a woman’s changing body, from pregnancy and perimenopause to everyday fluctuations. “It was my dream to empower women through creating lingerie for all seasons of our life,” says Marta, mum of 3 little boys. “That is why these bras provide both support and elegance.” Designed to be versatile, Aberdevine lingerie seamlessly transitions from daywear to evening, combining flexibility, style, and sustainability in every piece.

Their sizing includes cups from size A to H, bandwidth from 26-38 inches, and bralettes and bodysuits in simple S, M or L. And they constantly work on expanding their range. Not sure what size to pick? Every purchase (including a gift card) comes with a complimentary bra fitting at your convenience, so you never have to wear the wrong bra again!

Kate Brown Creative

We welcome back Kate and her stunning work for a second year. We also have her art available to buy all year round displayed in the restaurant! Having trained in art, Kate initially specialised in installations which explored the viewers relationship with both the art and the space within which it was displayed. Kate’s work has been exhibited nationally, including within York Minster and London, as well as internationally (Germany and Japan). Having relocated to North Yorkshire in 2022, Kate has developed her practice and draws inspiration from the surrounding landscapes and botanicals. Utilising a gel plate and natural materials Kate creates mono-prints (all one of a kind) which aim to encapsulate the essence of the local environment.

Bayfolk

Bayfolk at Home is a new venture by local woman Amanda Walton, who plans to open a bricks and mortar shop in Whitby in Spring 2025. She will be bringing a selection of gifts and homewares, including some luxurious looking alpaca blend blankets and cushions.

Nature’s Laboratory

Nature’s Laboratory is a natural medicine & skincare manufacturer & research company based in Whitby. They support Three- dimensional health; social, cultural and economic.

They will be selling gorgeous hand-made in Whitby Sweet Cecily skincare products and the very popular Make Your Own Lip balm kits. They will also be selling a range of delicious loose leaf single ingredient & expertly blended teas produced in Whitby by The Whitby Tea Company, and our BeeVital range of products from the beehive which support immunity, health and overall well-being.

Come and have a chat with them at the Fair and find out more about their amazing products and how they support health in the community.

Silk & Purl

Many of you may recognise Cheryl-Ann from our wreath making workshops. She is a super busy lady, so although she won’t have ready made wreaths with her this year, she will be bringing fresh and dried foliage that is perfect for creating your own seasonal masterpieces! She is also an ambassador for Temple Spa skincare, which is vegan and cruelty free.

Furbellow & Co

A fine example of a proper family run business, based in Whitby. They focus their products on quality, local and independent brands. Proud supporters of Whitby Gin, Berties of Bay and Art Disco.

If you visit them instore, they even have a traditional barbershop (this won’t be travelling to the Homestead!)
