The festive season is nearly here, and we’re celebrating in true Homestead style — with mulled wine, mince pies, and a day full of local creativity and community spirit. Join us on Friday 21st November for our Christmas Fair, set right here at The Homestead Kitchen in Goathland.
It’s the perfect way to ease into the season — a cosy, heartwarming day surrounded by handmade gifts, friendly faces, and the scent of something delicious from our kitchen.

Kitty Pennybacker Knits
A talented textiles artist working primarily with wool, Kitty blends colours through her knitting to create beautiful neckerchieves, blanket scarves, and personalised baby blankets. Each piece is lovingly made and full of texture and warmth — the perfect gift (or treat for yourself!).

Kath Cox Pots
Hand-thrown pottery with rustic charm and timeless appeal — perfect for anyone who loves simple, beautiful craftsmanship.
All of her ceramics are hand-made and fired on-site from her home studio in Bishopthorpe, York. She uses different stoneware and porcelain clays – and you will notice this when you see how unique each piece is. The glazes are all safe for food use (lead-free) and you can put Kath Cox Pots in your dishwasher and microwave. Beautiful. Everyday.

Jan Hoyland – Author of The Alchemy of Gardening
Jan Hoyland is a widely experienced horticulturalist, designer and gardens manager. She is an accomplished plantswoman with a good eye for planting design both in fine detail and within the wider landscape. She has been the guiding force for the design and development of our gardens here at the Homestead, and works closely with Pete to ensure we are growing what is needed in the kitchen.
Jan has just published her first book called ‘The Alchemy of Gardening’, a wide ranging and inspirational exploration of permaculture, organic techniques and rewilding with a mindful and seasonal philosophy. She will be selling this lovely book on the day.

Clare Swann – Interior Art
Clare creates hand-painted lampshades, wooden panels, papier mâché mirrors, and decorative interior items, presented as themed collections in a folk art style. A semi-retired art teacher working from her small garden studio in Huggate, East Yorkshire, Clare draws inspiration from nature to craft distinctive, whimsical pieces that bring a homely charm to any space. She shares her current work on Instagram.
Pot & Pineapple (Whitby)
A treasure trove of homeware, plants, and thoughtful gifts — each piece chosen with care and a love of design. They focus on bean to bar chocolate, and iiquorice in all shapes and sizes!

Beck Holme Flowers
Lorraine a home-based florist who loves creating wreaths using natural materials. From foraged foliage and dried flowers to seed heads, berries and twigs to create pieces that reflect the beauty of each season. Every wreath is handmade with care and inspired by nature.
Food & Festive Treats
We’ll be serving hot and cold drinks and mince pies from 10am, and from 11.30am our kitchen will be open for light lunches, all made from seasonal ingredients grown here at home or sourced locally.
Please note we are unable to take reservations for dining. We will have two sharing tables in the bar area, and we would ask that you find a seat first and then order.

Our car park here is likely to get very busy, the nearest public car park is just ten minute walk down the road at the National Park Car Park.
