The Homestead Goathland is run by partners Peter Neville and Cecily Fearnley. They have two young sons, and moved back to the beautiful village of Goathland in 2021 to embark on this new business venture together. Cecily grew up in the village and still has family there, and is thrilled to be back along with her own family now.
Peter has a strong background in the hospitality industry, with his most recent work being 11 years co-running a small boutique country hotel and working as head chef there. After many happy and successful years, he felt it was time to move on to something new, which will hopefully also allow for more time with his family.
Before starting their family, Cecily spent 10 years in her family business which focuses on the research and manufacture of herbal medicines, apiceuticals (medicines from the beehive) and natural skincare products. She has a passion for working collaboratively and with other small and unique businesses.
Peter and Cecily are thrilled to introduce their new space at The Homestead. This will include The Homestead Kitchen, a small and unique restaurant offering a changing menu to coincide with the seasons. They hope to be able to source as many ingredients from within the North Yorkshire Moors, and will also be growing fruit, vegetables and herbs in their own kitchen garden. In addition, there is The Homestead Cottage which sleeps up to 6 and is available to book here.
Why The Homestead? Aside from the business element, the family live on site too, and wanted to create a real feeling of being welcomed and hosted when you choose to dine or stay with them. Over the coming years they hope to create a flourishing and vibrant space, growing their own family, growing on the land, and growing in the community.
